He is currently a pretty great eater (I mean first things first right?). He LOVES fruit and would eat it all day long if you would let him. His favorite meal is shake and bake chicken, mac and cheese, and peas OR a chicken and avacado quesadilla with a side of black beans. We have both once a week probably because he will chow down on those things. He used to love all things italian, but recently he hasn't been in to those as much. This month he has learned about candy and other sweets. He calls them all cookies, once he's seen a "cookie" I may as well give it up because he'll never rest until it's his. Luckily it's not all that frequently so I don't mind letting him have it every now and then.
His favorite game right now is "123 go!" which entails counting to three and yelling go and then running to some undetermined point, stopping, and saying "tada!" I'm so impressed with his ability to run. He was a late walker, but it was as if once he started, he just took off. Now he seems so sturdy on his feet. He has also started to be able to catch a ball if you toss it to him gently (and from pretty close). He tries to jump all of the time, but hasn't gotten that quite figured out yet. It is pretty funny to watch though. He has also learned ring around the rosie which he calls "ring ring" and requests to play it all of the time. The only issue is that sometimes he takes the "we all fall down" part a little too literally and will really hit the ground hard. It always makes me nervous to play this one! And lastly, the boy has some pretty amazing dance moves. He really seems to have some rhythm for a little fella. Usually his dancing consists of some bouncing or leg kicking, but every now and then he drops it real low and does a little twist, but he's got to really be grooving to do this move.
His speech is just blossoming more and more everyday. It is so fun to listen to him. Most of the sentences he makes are about daddy. "Daddy mow." "Daddy work." (No kidding kid!) "Daddy cute."
This was a black bean night clearly.
He also says his own name so well now. This has taken forever, but every now and then now, he'll point at me and say mama, Matt and say daddy, and then himself and say "John!" He is so excited to be able to finally get his own name out! He can say all of the kids names in his class, but talks about "Lella" (aka Ella) the most. He is quite fond of Ella since she has been his bud since they were itty bitty babies. He also calls his teacher "reeree" (her name is Theresa), and he ADORES her. It gives me so much peace that he loves her so much. He is working on his colors, but mostly everything is "boo" or "geen" to him. He can point those two out at least! He is also getting so familiar with his letters now! He can't point them out, but he can tell you what the next letter is going to be when singing the abc's. If I say L, M, N, O, then he'll say P! He is super into the abc's right now.
He is also somewhat interested in numbers, but much more interested in 2. He can tell you when there are 2 things sitting somewhere, but anytime we try to count, he just wants to say 2.
And unfortunately, we're nearing the terrible twos and he is also starting to exhibit some of those lovely behaviors as well. We really like the word "nnnoooo!" said with so much attitude. We're also a little more into the word "mine" than I'd like.
He also just finished up the wintersession of swim classes. He couldn't get enough of them. He really wasn't afraid to go under water, and he could kick like a son of a gun. I was so proud of my little swimmer!
We'll see what another month brings!
Cannot get a picture with the sign anymore! He does not want to smile with the sign.
